While August in Arkansas can’t match beautiful Hawaii, we do share the same level of tropical humidity. For August 2019, we made a return trip to Fairfield Bay Marina for Luau at the Lake on August 3rd. This event returned to the marina in 2018 after a very long hiatus. If a Hawaiian vacation is out of the question, then Fairfield Bay Marina brings Hawaii to Arkansas’ Greers Ferry Lake for one day.
This luau included flowery Hawaiian shirts, hula skirts, and a real underground roasted whole pig feast and so much more. Fairfield Bay and the marina created the best authentic Hawaiian experience possible. In 2019, a Caribbean steel drum band joined the party and played music until sunset to add more authenticity to the event. A party without some games is really boring and this luau was not boring. Games included best Hawaiian costumes, best-decorated boat, best hula hoop, and best limbo.
The Good Vibe Band, a local steel drum band, played until sunset.
Ladies, he was impressive in his Hawaiian costume.
This boat won first place for the best Hawaiian decorated boat. The big tent-like thing on the bow represented a real smoking volcano.
How low can she go?
This group of ladies was as mischievous as mermaids. They had a great time!
There are many more photos from Luau at the Lake on the FARE Pix Gallery. We hope to return to Luau at the Lake in 2020.
